Day 13: June 1, 2025
Today was our final day in South Korea. We ended our trip with an excursion to the DMZ. We took a private bus to just outside of the area where we ate lunch and then started our tour. We were able to visit multiple places including a tunnel dug by North Korean soldiers and a viewing deck. It was very interesting to see this area. We were unable to take pictures due to restrictions, but we’re able to take a group picture in a designated area. After visiting the DMZ, we ate dinner and said our final goodbyes.

Blog 10 Theme: Urban Agriculture
Throughout this trip I have been on the lookout for urban farms. Even though I did not see any large scale, highly modern urban farms, I did see significant evidence of its existence in the city. Notable examples include our Janes Walk, where I was able to see a community garden within the neighborhood we visited. I also noticed many small urban farming efforts by local businesses growing foods outside of their shops.

My final find was a sign for the 14th Seoul Urban Agriculture Expo 2025 in the subway. However, the expo was only on the 30th and 31st so I was unable to attend. There are also many green roofs on building in Seoul, which could also be evidence of extensive urban agriculture in the city. Urban agriculture is in readily important for cities to improve food access, promote sustainable practices, and enhance the environment in urban areas.
